How long have you been in business?
What makes LarLin Home Care different than other home care services?
Julius Caesar said “experience is the teacher of all things,” and our experience is unmatched in Illinois home care services. In addition, we’ve learned that hiring good caregivers and enabling them through effective training best serves our clients. Finally, our diverse workforce allows us to meet the needs of our diverse clients. When you work with LarLin Home Care you can be confident you’ll get effective, thoughtful care.
How much does home care cost?
Home care costs are driven by the type and amount of services you require. Typically, the greater the demands, the greater the cost. For example, light housework and companionship for a few hours each week will cost less than a caregiver that needs to assist a patient in and out of bed, in the shower or with toileting. To get a specific cost for your needs, please call 630-852-4007 or fill out our Client Assessment.
My loved one is going through rehab and will return home soon. She will then need home care for a few weeks. Do you provide temporary home care services?
Yes. LarLin Home Care provides temporary services for needs of all kinds including returning from the hospital or rehabilitation center.
I am a single caretaker and desperately need a break. I’m concerned about my mental health and that I end of hating my loved one. Do you have services that allow me to get away for evenings or a weekend?
Yes. LarLin Home Care Respite Care is the answer. It’s designed to provide relief for single caretakers or fill in for a few days for any reason. Contact us to learn more.
Will Medicare cover the cost of home care?
Medicare does not cover the cost of home care. However, there are Veteran Administration programs that may cover the cost for those that have served in the military. In addition, other government assistance programs such as the Community Care Program offer financial assistance to those that qualify.
Will my insurance cover the cost of home care?
Private insurance only covers the cost of home care if you have a long term care policy or other specialized insurance offerings.
Do you train your home care workers? What type of training do you provide?
Yes, training is an important part of the LarLin Home Care difference. First, we look for caregivers with previous experience. Then we conduct a day long training program which includes a skills evaluation and a written exam. In addition, we provide continuing education on topics including senior abuse, fall prevention, basic hygiene, infection prevention, first aid, communicating to patients with dementia and more.
How do you determine the home care worker that best fits my needs?
First, our nearly 20 years in the business helps us better understand what will and won’t work. Second, we learn about your loved one and their needs and preferences. That allows us to identify potential candidates we believe will meet those needs. Then we allow you to meet and interview the candidates. It’s through that process we successfully match clients and caregivers.
Can I help select my caregiver?
Yes, we think it’s extremely important for you to meet and help select your caregiver.
What happens if I don’t like my caregiver after they start?
When a caregiver is assigned to work in your home we want to ensure that you can depend and trust that person. That is important to you and to LarLin. When that kind of relationship does not happen, then LarLin will find a replacement until you are satisfied with your caregiver.
How do I get started?
Please contact us at 630-852-4007. A caseworker will ask you a series of questions that will help us determine the services you need and answer any questions you have. You may also fill out our contact form with a time you are available and will contact you at that time.
Wouldn’t it cost less if I hired a caregiver myself instead of using a home care agency? Why should I use a home care agency?
Yes, it’s certainly possible for you to hire your own caregiver. It may or may not cost less. But regardless, there are a number of things to consider before heading down that path. A reputable home care agency will handle:
- Screening applicants – the agency interviews, checks references and conducts background checks
- Train employees – good agencies provide on-going communication and training to ensure quality care
- Manage employees – they make sure the caregiver remains a good fit and makes changes when necessary
- Back-up caregivers – In the event of an illness or if the caregiver chooses to leave the assignment, they provide back up caregivers
- Federal and State withholding taxes, Social Security and Medicare withholdings, Federal and State unemployment withholdings, and Workmen’s Compensation Insurance. The agency handles collecting, paying, and reporting these withholdings to the proper governmental agencies.
Agency employees are supervised, evaluated and monitored to ensure they are operating effectively and meeting client needs.
When you hire your own caregiver, you are responsible for these tasks. Many can be time consuming. If you are unfamiliar with the state and federal laws, then the complexity may be overwhelming to you. As a result, we find that most people prefer to hire an agency rather than deal with the various details.
My loved one speaks limited English. Do you have caregivers that can help me?
One of LarLin Home Care strengths is our diverse workforce. Our team of caregivers speak more than 20 different languages including Filipino, Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, French and more, enhancing their ability to communicate and care for your loved one. Once we understand your language requirements we will provide a caregiver that fits your needs.
